Russell F. Fansin, 93, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will be on Monday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm Monday evening. Russell Frank Fansin was born on August 6, 1916 south of Canistota, SD to William P. and Mary (Guenther) Fansin. He grew up in the Monroe area and on December 1, 1944 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Hagemeyer at the Chancellor Reformed Church. They lived their entire married life in Parker where he had been employed by Lund Electric, Turner County Highway Department, and John Morrell and Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1978. After retirement he was employed part-time by the City of Parker where he was the superintendent of the rubble site. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Gertrude; 2 daughters, Jeannie Hohn, Sioux Falls and Joyce (Mike) Luke, Hartford; 4 grandchildren, Heather (Micheal) Catrett, Stephanie (Jon) Sundermann, all of Hartford, Jason (Melanie) Hohn, Manteca, CA, and Jeff (Mariah) Hohn, Sacramento, CA; 5 great grandchildren, Miranda, Alyssa, Toralyn, Liam, and Isaac; 5 step great grandchildren, Nick, Brock, Genna, Mason, and Maddy; a brother in law, Ron Fredrichsen, Sioux Falls; a sister in law, Mary Fansin, Parker; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bob, and a sister Evelyn.
