Gladys Begeman, 82, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at her home. Funeral service will be 10:00am on Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe with burial in the Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-5:00pm at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with visitation continuing at 6:00pm Sunday evening with family present at the Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. www.hofmeisterjones.com Gladys I. Rogers was born on October 4, 1927 at Parker, SD to William and Lilly (Allen) Rogers. After graduating from Parker High School she attended Eastern State Normal School in Madison and received her teaching certificate. She taught rural country school near Parker for two years. On June 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Peter Begeman at Parker. They farmed in the Parker area where she lived her entire life. She also was an Avon and Tupperware representative. After their retirement they enjoyed spending winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. She was an active member of the Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe and a member of the Extension Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and other handwork and giving handmade gifts to the grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Peter; 9 children, Harlan (Jo) Begeman, Spearfish, SD, Gerald Begeman, Bermuda, William (Bonnie) Begeman, Norfolk, NE, Karen (Dennis) Koenders, Laurinburg, NC, Judy Netten, Rock Rapids, IA, Patricia Plucker, Sioux Falls, Doris (Eugene) Hubbard, Castle Rock, CO, Peter (Dianna) Begeman, Parker, and Vicky (Doug) VanHouten, Stanton, NE; 24 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Delores VanGelder, Sioux Falls, and Joan Brown, Humboldt; and a brother William Rogers, Sioux Falls. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Calvary Reformed Church.
