Roberta P. Goodhope, 82, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Monday, August 2, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, Parker with burial at the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with family present from 6-8:00pm and a Eastern Star Service at 7:00pm Sunday evening. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice. Roberta Pauline Lange was born on November 1, 1927 at Hurley, SD to Virtus C. and Verne Roberta (Jones) Lange. As a child se lived in Hurley and Hartford, and graduating from Hartford High School. She received her teaching certificate from Eastern State Normal School in Madison. On August 25, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert Goodhope at Hurley. They lived in Viborg, Geddes, Wakonda, Centerville, while Mr. Goodhope served as coach, teacher, and high school principal. They moved to Parker in 1996. She taught country school near Canistota and also was a substitute teacher for many years. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2006 via a family gathering hosted by their five children, 11 grandchildren, and great granddaughters. She was an actively involved in many organizations including the VFW, Eastern Star, ABW, Brownie Leader, Den Mother, Garden Club, and many other organizations throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Robert; 5 children, Roberta J. “Bunny” (Richard) Nelson,Brady, NE, Dr. Robert C. (Suzi) Goodhope, Havana, FL, Robin R. (Douglas) Mofle, Parker, SD, Randy J. (Phil Morganti) Goodhope, Silver Spring, MY and Rebecca R. (Kevin) Johnson, White Lake, SD; 11 grandchildren, Dr. Michael Goodhope (Lynette Quast), Angela (Chris) Orman, Cinda (Tim) Cuthberson, Nicholas Goodhope, Jennifer Nelson, Katy Nelson, Jesse Mofle, Samuel Mofle, and Rob Mofle, and 3 great granddaughters, Auralia Beaumont, Kennedy Goodhope, and Gillian Goodhope: an aunt Lillian “JoAnne” Newton, a sister in law, Leona Seim and nieces Barbara Dooyema, Beth Buchanan, and families. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Virtus W. “Sonny” Lange, Jr.
