Ruth L. Holt, 94, died Sunday, August 1, at Dougherty Hospice House with her daughter Carol and granddaughter, Rhonda with her. Ruth has requested no services, as her family is located on the east coast. In lieu of services and flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Ruth to Good Samaritan Society, 404 East 6th Avenue Lennox, SD 57039-2262. Ruth was very grateful for the loving care she received and friends she made while residing there for the last six months. Ruth Louise Albert was born on November 27, 1915 in Uniontown, PA to George and Margaret (Herman) Albert. Ruth lived on the east coast between Pennsylvania and Maryland for 93 years before moving to Parker, SD. She worked 38 years for Midway Enterprises while raising her two daughters, Carol Jamsen and Bonnie Wozniak and her son who sadly preceded her in death, Gerald E. Browne, Jr. (Eddie). Ruth always remembered her 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren’s birthdays and special occasions. She was known for her crochet work, many people treasure her handmade gifts, and her blankets have swaddled many babies over her years. Ruth would secretly leave holiday baskets outside the doors of residents of the senior apartments where she lived. She made life-long friends and traveled frequently to Mt. Pocono, PA and Virginia Beach, VA for visits with her friends. Grateful for having shared Ruth’s life are her brother, George Albert (York, PA), and surviving sisters, Pat Snyder (Red Lion, PA), June Emig (Lake Placid, FL), and Margaret McCaffery (Dover, PA). Sisters, Truly Mae Kreiger, Betty Rohrbaugh, and Kathleen Desrosiers preceded Ruth in death. Her adored cat, Sammy, also survives Ruth.
