William G. Burgess, 78, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at his home. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Bill was born on September 26, 1931 at Kansas City, MO to William and Jessie (Martin) Burgess. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He received a fine arts degree from the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. He was a leader in creative advertising for a number of companies including his own. He was an award winning artist in the Midwest with his own unique style. For the past 20 years he worked as a custom framer at Harold’s Photo in Sioux Falls. He enjoyed fishing on the Missouri River and at various lakes in SD and Minnesota. He enjoyed spending time with family, was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, and enjoyed yard work and taking care of his home in Chancellor with his wife Karen. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Karen; children Scott (Trixy), Sioux Falls, Mark (Shannon), Hampton, GA, Matthew (Jill), Brandon, David, Sioux Falls, and Lisa, Sioux Falls; 6 grandchildren, Katie, Steve, Lacey, Jacob, Sydney, and Sophia; a sister Ramona Strandell, Spearfish; and a brother Gene, Yankton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol.
