Marvin L. Petersen, 94, died Monday, Novmeber 8, 2010 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30am Friday, November 12, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday with family present from 6-8:00pm and a Prayer Service at 7:30pm at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Marvin L. Petersen was born on July 13, 1916 at Isabel, SD to pioneer parents Hans and Winifred (Cotton) Petersen. He grew up at Isabel and graduated from Isabel High School in 1934. At the age of 17 he moved with his family to the Parker area. On February 19, 1941 he was united in marriage to Selma Simonson, the first couple to be married at Grace Lutheran Church, Parker. They farmed north of Hurley until 1993 when they retired and moved into Parker. His wife Selma died in 1999. He was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was very active. Grateful for having shared his life are his 3 children, Karen (Richard) Tellinghuisen, Sioux Falls, Janice (David) Dangel, Sioux Falls, and Wayne Petersen, Lennox; 2 grandchildren, Kristie Dangel and Troy (Ann) Tellinghuisen; a great grandson, Trew Parker Tellinghuisen and Seth David Tellinghuisen; and a brother Harlan (Jean) Petersen, Cottonwood, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Selma, a sister Verna Tellinghuisen, and an infant brother Kenneth and an infant sister, Ruth.
