Alvia Marie Nelson Lohoff Beloved Aunt, Sister and Friend passed away on November 27, 2010 at Sylvan House in Hayden Idaho. She was born September 16, 1914 in Hurley South Dakota, to Arthur and Nellie (Peterson) Nelson. She was the oldest of their 3 children. Alvia attended Hurley High School, class of 1932 and then went on to graduate from Chillicothe Business School in Missouri. She moved to Kansas City where she met and married Arthur Kenneth Lohoff. In 1945 they moved to Sacramento where she had a full career with the Bureau of Reclamation. Alvia and Kenneth were world travelers and full of fascinating stories. Alvia enjoyed playing her accordion, painting and gardening. She was a generous lifetime supporter of numerous charities and one of the founders of the Arthur Nelson Memorial Museum in Hurley, SD which is named in honor of her father. Alvia was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Nellie (Peterson) Nelson, her husband Arthur Kenneth Lohoff, her sister Ardell (Nelson) White and her brother Arlin Royal Nelson. She is survived by her sister-in-law Geneva Nelson, nieces Marla (Nelson) McCasland, Martha (Nelson) McKibbin, nephew Martin Royal Nelson, several great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. Alvia will be buried at 10:00am Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Hurley Cemetery, Hurley, SD next to her husband. The family is planning a memorial in Hurley summer 2011 and will notify after it has been scheduled. Arrangements by the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley.
