Annette Olson

Annette Olson, 78 of Hurley, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hurley. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM Friday, December 28, 2018 at the church with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM. Viva Annette (Ginaven) Olson was born July 6th, 1940 in Aberdeen, SD to James Frank and Viva Pearl (DeVries) Ginaven. In 1948 she moved to Davis, SD Area where she graduated from Hurley High School in 1958. She married James A. Olson in June of 1958 and had two children Lauren James and Machelle Ann. Her husband Jim, owned and operated Olson Service station in Hurley, SD where she worked as a bookkeeper for 25 years. Over the years she was involved with Questers, The American Legion Auxiliary, and performed with the Sweet Adelines in Sioux Falls. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Hurley where she served on several church organizations. Grateful for having shared her life is her husband Jim; Children: Lauren (Deb) Olson, Mitchell, SD; Machelle (Galen) Albers, Howard, SD; 5 grandchildren: Ann (Brian) Gilbert; Brook (Larry) Meyer; Candace (Aaron) Kleinsasser; Andrea Olson  (Dillon Giedd); Jordan Olson, & 9 great grandchildren: Addyson, Camden, Natalie (Gilbert); Alexis, Jacey, Caleb (Meyer); & Audry, Ethan, Colin (Kleinsasser). She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James W. & his wife Marge
