Ardis M. Walker

March 28, 1950 — January 16, 2021

Ardis M. Walker, 70 of Sioux Falls died Saturday, January 16, 2021 of COVID-19 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.  Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker.  Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.

Ardis Van Hove Rippe Walker was born on March 28, 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD to Harvey and Norma (Hovaldt) Van Hove.  She grew up in Parker where she graduated from Parker High School in 1968.  She was united in marriage to Glenn Rippe on October 10, 1970 and lived in Illinois and Nebraska while he served in the US Air Force.  To this union two daughters were born, Jonda and Sonya.  On February 26, 1977 Glenn was killed in a semi trailer accident.  She returned to South Dakota and on August 5, 1978 she and Ross Walker were united in marriage.  They lived on a farm southwest of Parker until 1995 when they moved to Sioux Falls.  In May of 2000 they moved to Arizona.  Ross died in 2015 and she moved back to South Dakota in 2016.

She is survived by her 2 daughters Jonda (John) Heckel, Shakopee, MN and Sonya Rippe, St. Louis Park, MN; 3 granddaughters, Elizabeth, Rachel and Sarah Heckel; brothers and sisters, Merlyn Van Hove, Nina (Doug) Behm, Lyle (Deb) Van Hove, Scott (Dierck Casselman) Van Hove, Nita Wirth, Rita (Mike) Snowden, and Reed (Tammy) Van Hove; sister-in-law Karen (Larry) Van Hove, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Glenn Rippe and Ross Walker; brothers Keith, David, and Larry, and sisters Donna Towne, Karla Rollins, and Jean Ellen Schrag; and sister-in-laws Victoria (Keith) Van Hove, Karen (Merlyn) Van Hove and Cathy (Lyle) Van Hove.
