Betty Meyerhoff

Betty Meyerhoff, 92 of Viborg, passed away on December 9, 2020 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home due to natural causes. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, December 14, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Viborg, with burial to follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Matlock, IA. Due to Covid-19, the family requests the public to wear a mask at Betty’s service.  The funeral service will also be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/Hofmeister-Jones-Funeral-Home-105543514717088 . Betty Jean (Reekers) Meyerhoff was born May 14, 1928 in rural Sioux County, Iowa to John and Annie (Nagel) Reekers. She grew up and went to school in the area.

On May 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Henry A. Meyerhoff in Matlock, Iowa. Hank and Betty lived in Matlock until 1959, then moved to Sioux Falls for Hank’s job. While in Matlock she spent a short time working as a telephone operator. She was a devoted mother and fulltime homemaker.

After retirement, Betty and Hank loved to travel and spent many years traveling between Biloxi, MS and the lake in northern Minnesota where she pursued her passion of fishing. Betty and Hank enjoyed 66 years together before his death in 2012.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter Linda (Jim) Schneekloth; sister Darlene (Bill) Eberly; brothers Vernon (Liz) and Norman (Donna). She is survived by her son Carl (Jeniene); four grandchildren: Jaimi, Neesha, Jillian and Kayla; eight great-grandchildren: Brandt, Alexander, Lukas, Ethan, Aurora, Skylar, Lillian, Jensyn, and one expected; and sisters Marge (Tom) McGinty and Georgia (Richard) Klein.
