Bev Spomer, 93, formerly of Hurley, died Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Friday, August 26, 2022 at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with burial to precede services at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hurley.  Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 5-7pm at the Heritage Funeral Home, 57 ^th and MN, Sioux Falls.  Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to the Abiding Savior Academy.

Beverly Jean Christensen was born on July 2, 1929 in rural Freeman to Albert and Daisy (Christensen) Christensen.  She attended Salem District #27 country school and continued her education at Freeman High School and Freeman Jr. College.  She graduated from Yankton College in 1972 with a degree in elementary education.  She taught rural schools for 16 years and after that she taught 3 ^rd grade in Hurley for 25 years, for a total of 41 years of teaching. On June 24, 1951 she was united in marriage to Donald Spomer at Freeman, SD.  Three Children were born to this union, a daughter Sharon and twins, Doug and Deb.  They farmed west of Hurley until 1983 when they moved into Hurley.  In 2010 she moved to Sunnycrest Village in Sioux Falls.  She was a member of Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens.

Grateful for having shared her life are 2 daughters, Sharon (Phil) Jensen, Sioux Falls and Deb (Gary) Rusk, Colorado Springs, CO; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 1993, a son Doug, a granddaughter Amanda, a brother Glenn and a sister Marge.
