Casey Bonhorst

Casey Bonhorst, 30 of Viborg, passed away on February 26, 2020. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Viborg Community Building in Viborg. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2020 at the Community Building with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.

Casey was born in Brookings, SD to Duwayne and Theresa (Ulrickson) Bonhorst. He and his parents moved to Norfolk, NE from 1991 to 1994, they then moved to Viborg, SD

Casey was active in so much in his hometown.  He was in Cub Scouts, played baseball and basketball, attended summer day camp in Vermillion with lots of kids from neighboring towns where he made many friends. In school he was very active in vocal music and received many honors including three years as a delegate for SD All State Choir.  He participated in band, track and especially football. "Horse" became his nickname early when is was a student manager and he was still know as that by his friends. He also worked for the Kessler's at the Lund Theatre during high school.

He attended SD School of Mines in Rapid City for 1 year and then worked various jobs including Delta Airline which gave him an opportunity to travel as stand-by to various places which included Boston, MA, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Munich, Germany and Hong Kong, China.  He also went to Honolulu, Hawaii for a year and a half to attend the University of Hawaii and enjoyed island life.

Hobbies included Xbox and other gaming, fishing and boating.  He helped rebuild an old boat to make it lake worthy. He recently move to Brainerd, MN where he was pursuing his newest hobby of fishing and boating.   Also, he helped his father rebuild and maintain their 63 Chevy pickup.

He will be greatly missed my his mother and father of Viborg; grandmother Lois Ulrickson of Viborg: uncle David and aunt Linette Ulrickson of Canton, SD, cousin Tanner Ulrickson of Canton, SD and cousin Hillary (Ulrickson), Luke and Daveney Dingledine of Bennington, NE; grandparents Paul and Shirley Bonhorst of Pierre, SD, uncle Brad and aunt Barb Bonhorst of Ft. Pierre, SD, cousin Bryan and Desi, Gibson, Hazel, Kalliope, Willow Bonhorst of Pierre, SD, cousin Tara Bonhorst of Portland, OR.

He also has many friends and relatives including his good buddies, Dan, Jacob, Shilo and special dog-Keeba and so many others too numerous to name.He was preceeded in death by his grandfather Robert Ulrickson.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials can be directed to the family so they may be put towards a charity in memory of Casey.
