Charlyne Vander Woude

Charlyne Vander Woude, 72, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, September 04, 2018 at the Dougherty House in Sioux Falls. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Church of Christ, 1208 S. South Eastern Ave, Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, September 7, 2018 at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home in Parker with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM. She is donating her body to the University of South Dakota for medical research and will have her interment at a later date. Charlyne was born on October 14, 1945 to William and Julia Ruhlman. She grew up in Sioux Falls with her 3 brothers. She received her high school diploma from O’Gorman High School and attended South Dakota State University for a year. She then attended Sioux Falls School of Practical Nursing for her LPN degree. She later attended the University of South Dakota and graduated with her RN degree. Upon receiving her LPN degree she worked at McKennan Hospital. After taking time to raise a family, she worked as an RN at the Good Samaritan Center in Canistota for 33 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to cross-stitch, read, put together puzzles, play cards or games, and watch movies. Best of all, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her 2 sons: Jeff (Dori) Vander Woude and Jim (Kim) Vander Woude; 4 grandchildren: Derek, Haley, Courtney and Kayla Vander Woude; and 2 brothers: James and Thomas Ruhlman. She is preceded in death by her daughter Julie, both parents: William and Julia, and 1 brother Robert.
