Diane Bendt

Diane Allie (Rang) Bendt, 57 of Viborg, died on October 24, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Viborg Community Center, Viborg, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, October 27, at the Viborg Community Building with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00PM. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.

Diane Allie (Rang) Bendt was born on November 25, 1966 at Sioux Falls, SD.  Her father Warren Rang died shortly before she was born and her mother Mabel (Larson) was united in marriage to Marlin Grave who became her Dad.  She grew up on a farm near Wall Lake/Hartford area with her siblings Duane, Dawn and Donna where the family attended Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed.  After graduating from West Central High School in 1985 she attended Stewarts School of Cosmetology.  After attaining her cosmetology degree, she worked at Cost Cutters in Watertown and had her own shop in Viborg for a time.  On December 17, 1988 she was united in marriage to Steven Bendt.  They moved to Viborg in 1993 where they raised their three children Katie, Allison and Devin. One of her favorite places that she had worked was in the lunch room at the Viborg School, she found it gratifying to work with the kids.   She was like a second mother to many and she enjoyed many things including fishing and hunting with her husband Steve, her children and most of all her grandchildren. Diane’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. If given the chance she would tell you about each one and all the activities and events of their lives. She was very proud of all their accomplishments.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Steve; 3 children, Katie (Nick) Pingrey, Centerville, Allison (Jonathan) Carithers, Viborg and Devin (Alyssa) Bendt, Viborg; 11 grandchildren; her mother Mabel Grave, Sioux Falls; her brother Duane (Lessa) Rang, Sioux Falls; and 2 sisters, Dawn (Tom) Bieber, Brandon and Donna (Scott) Gabbert, Hartford, SD; sisters-in-law Kristine Bendt, Sioux Falls, and Paula (Frank) Heirigs, Tea, and brother-in-law Perry Edblom, Tea.

She was preceded in death by her father Warren Rang, her dad Marlin Grave, father-in-law and mother-in-law Darwin and Judith Bendt, brother-in-law Barry Bendt, and sister-in-law Carol Edblom.
