Esther H. Ensz, 94 died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Bethesda Church, rural Marion with burial at the Tieszen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Wednesday evening at the Tieszen Home Chapel with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.
Esther Helen (Waltner) Ensz was born on May 13, 1923 to Henry Joseph and Anna (P.) Waltner, joining ten brothers and sisters. She attended country school for her formal education, working the farm with her Dad and brothers, she loved the farm life and land. On June 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Henry Ensz. They were blessed with three children, Della, Connie, and Vic. They farmed in the Marion community all their lives, retiring to Marion in 1978. She milked cows as a young girl and into her married years, having always loved caring for animals of all kinds. Esther was also employed at the Tieszen Memorial Home for many years.
She was an active member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church where she was part of the mixed Quartet and Trio. Esther’s passion was making home made quilts, she made hundreds of quilts starting from a very young age to until she was in her late 80’s. She loved gardening and took a special interest in flowers.
Esther’s true love was for her children and grandchildren. She always encouraged her children and was very active in helping her son with taxidermy on a weekly basis. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Della (Ron) Goeman, Kearney, MO, Connie (Gary) Nowstrup, Marion, and Vic (Sonia) Ensz, Tea; 6 grandchildren Brad (Cherie) Goeman, Redmond, OR, Angie (Nik) Pritzel, Kearney, MO, Chad (Rochelle) Nowstrup, Madison, Nichole (Ryan) Myhre, Sebring, FL, Gunner Ensz, Tea, and Blake Ensz, Tea; and 11 great grandchildren, Jayden, Kylie, Ellie, Connor, Anthony, Abby, Kyle, Dexter, Valorie, Ryleah, and Alayna. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry in 1990, and all 10 brothers and sisters and their spouses.
