Irvin F. Dykstra, 89 died Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the First Church of Monroe with burial in the Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-4pm Friday at the Tieszen Home Chapel and continue at 5:00pm at the church with family present from 6-7pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm Friday evening.
Irvin Ford Dykstra was born on July 13, 1930, at the family farm near Monroe, SD to Pearl Evelyn (Parry) Dykstra and George Peter Dykstra. He joined big brother Delmar George. He attended Monroe High School and graduated at age sixteen. He attended one year of college at Hope College in Hope, Michigan.
On February 5, 1950 Irvin married his lifelong love, Helen Darlene Begeman. To this union, eleven children were born: Sandra (Max) Sinclair, Debra (Roger) Kleinschmit, Gordon (Julie), Steven (Stephanie), Randall, Richard (Carol Ann), Mark (Barbara), Cheryl (Dennis) Geraets, Robin (Judy), Doug (Mona), Chad (Kiesha).
Irvin and Helen farmed 7 miles north of Parker, SD, raising pigs, chickens, and dairy cows. He also did custom farming. Irvin was an Archer Oil Dealer and served on the boards of : TM Rural Water District, since its inception in March 1982 till he retired in March 2016 and recieving the Spirit of Rural Water Award in 2016; Land O Lakes; McCook County Weed; and the McCook County school for many years. He served on the church consistory, was part of a men’s quartet since he was sixteen, and was a dedicated and active member of the First Reformed Church in Monroe.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother, daughter: Sandra, and grandchildren: Adam and Brienne. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith to his children, many grandchildren, Kristi, Melissa, Brienne, Matthew, Nathan, Damon, Adam, Sara, Jordan, Andrew, David, Katherine, Alex, Kelsey, Jonathan, Nick, Mary, Bailey, Dusty, Keegan, Zander, and Ashton, and many very loved great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
