Janet Klinghagen, 80 of Parker, passed away on September 30, 2022 at MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. A Celebration of Life for both Harlan and Janet will be held in the spring at their farm.
Janet J. (Bishop) Klinghagen was born June 7, 1942 to Ralph and Hazel Bishop.
She was united in marriage to Harlan Klinghagen on October 14, 1961, at the Beaver Creek Lutheran Church in Harrisburg.
Janet was a hard-working mother of three. She spent a short time working for Deano’s Steakhouse in Sioux Falls, SD. After that she became a housewife working on the farm. She enjoyed being outside with the animals and gardening.
She was a big part of the Arabian and Appaloosa horse shows, serving as the secretary for years. She was also involved in the Faith Temple Food Giveaway for over 10 years. Anyway she could help someone in need she did. She was a very kind, loving woman who made everyone she met smile and laugh. She brought happiness to everyone around her. She was also known for her practical jokes; you never knew what or when she would get you.
In her spare time, Janet enjoyed fishing and camping with Harlan. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was also very important to her. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to various casinos for entertainment. She had a passion for baking, always getting the most money for her pies at the UPS bake sale. She was well known for her banana bread.
Grateful for having share her life are her son Robert Klinghagen (Laura), Humboldt, SD; 2 daughters, Jodi Hintz (Dan Zemler), Rock Rapids, IA and Jamie Klinghagen (Ron Stewart), Newcastle, NE; 6 grandchildren, Jeff Klinghagen, Nicholas McVay, Ashley Klinghagen, Mary Klinghagen, Jordan Klinghagen and Justin Van Otterloo; 3 great grandchildren, Brooke Ihnen of Newcastle, NE, Braxton Ihnen of Rapid City, and Asher Klinghagen of Sioux Falls, SD; brother Ralph (Bud) Bishop; brother-in-law Harvey Klinghagen; sisters-in-law Sue Klinghagen and Lila Best.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harlan; parents Ralph and Hazel Bishop; brothers Loren (Larry) Bishop, John Bishop, and Darryl Bishop; and sister Judy Bishop.
