Joyce Marianne Hatheway was born in Mitchell, SD on August 16, 1922 to Howard and Ona (Vogus) Hatheway.  At age 4, the family moved near Parker where she attended school and graduated from Parker High School in 1940.  Joyce then attended Freeman Jr College to obtain her teaching degree and taught at Pleasant Ridge Country School.

Joyce was united in marriage to Harry Felsheim on November 25, 1942 and were blessed with five children, Joan, Larry, Leann, Marlene and Garry.  They spent their married life farming near Parker on the Felsheim family farm.    Joan passed away on April 3, 1946 and Harry passed away on September 1, 1976.

On May 1, 1980, Joyce and Lloyd Schrag were married at Parker.  They spent much time traveling and she was always helping Lloyd with projects and helped make many wooden wishing wells and swings, some of which still can be seen at the homes of her children and grandchildren.  Lloyd passed away on February 21, 1996.

Joyce was a lifelong member of the Parker United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities.  She also attended Salem Zion Church near Freeman during her marriage to Lloyd.  She was a woman of faith and maintained a positive attitude through the difficult times in her life.  She was very proud of her family and enjoyed the large family gatherings, where she would often say, “Look what I started”.    She also enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all have special memories of their time with her.

Her hobbies included sewing, baking, gardening, crocheting and embroidery and she enjoyed playing dominoes, cards, bingo and doing jigsaw puzzles. Joyce always had to be busy doing something!  She was a member of the KYN (Know Your Neighbor) Extension club for over 25 years and on the High School Class Reunion Committee.  She thoroughly enjoyed attending the annual Parker High School Alumni Banquet and in later years, was proud to often be the oldest attendee.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children and step children and their families:
