Keith Bagley

October 10, 1939 — June 6, 2021

Keith Bagley, 81 of Hurley died suddenly Sunday, June 6, 2021 while celebrating his 55 wedding anniversary at Yankton, SD.  Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley with burial in the Hurley Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7pm Wednesday at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home in Parker with a public Masonic Service at 7:00pm.

Keith Edwin Bagley was born on October 10, 1939 in Sioux Falls, SD to Addie and Vera (Radley) Bagley.  He grew up on a farm east of Hurley where he graduated from Hurley High School in 1957.  While attending General Beadle College in Madison he worked his way through school by doing a lot of trapping and working at the A & W Drive Inn.  Upon graduating with a degree in business he went on to teach at Todd County High School where he met a fellow teacher Diane Horst.  They were married on June 6, 1965 and they lived in Mission for 15 years. While attending  Colorado State University during the summers he received his Masters Degree in Vocational Education.  While in Mission he was active in Lions Club and the volunteer Fire Department.  They spent their winters in Mission and the summers in Hurley.

Keith was an entrepreneur, always looking for the next opportunity.  Over the years he had a windrowing business, was involved in trucking while in Mission, farmed and moved trees with a tree spade.  In 1979 he bought the Arrow Campground in Wall and owned and operated it until 2019.  At Wall he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed morning coffee with friends at Wall Drug.

He was a lifetime member of Harmony Presbyterian Church holding many leadership positions, member of the Hurley Joppa Lodge and El Riad Shrine.

Being a Grandpa to his granddaughter Gabrielle, his daughter Lynette and son in law Dale was a big part of his life.  He always had time to spend with them, playing games, cards or going out to eat.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Diane; daughter Lynette Almond and husband Dale; and granddaughter Gabrielle, all of Hurley, SD; nieces Barb (Terry) Fuller, Rapid City, SD and Kay (Terry) Dahlquist, Sioux City, IA; and a nephew Rick (Nancy) Horton, Wall, SD.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in law, a sister Lillian Horton and her husband Virgil.

In lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to Harmony Presbyterian Church, Turner County Food Bank or the Hurley Library.
