Lance A. Vogt was born in Sioux Falls SD. He grew up in rural Humboldt and Hartford SD. He graduated from West Central High School, Hartford in 1976 and South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Park Management. While in college, Lance was involved in the ROTC.
Afterwards, Lance joined the Army Airborne and became a helicopter pilot. He was in 2 helicopter crashes and survived with no life threating injuries! Lance served in the Army for 27 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career, Lance was stationed overseas in Korea, Germany, Turkey, Kuwait. In the United States, he was based at Ft. Campbell KY, Ft. Leavenworth KS, Ft. Lewis WA and Ft. Rucker AL. His last assignment was with the Army Reserve at the Federal Center in Denver, CO.
Lance loved horses, camping, the outdoors, watching westerns, and sports especially playing basketball with his sons. He loved his children, grandchildren, family, friends and church family. Most of all, Lance loved Jesus!
He was loved and cherished by many people including his wife Roberta; his children; Shea, Khye, Brie, Morgan and Brooke; his 8 grandchildren; parents Donna and George Vogt; sisters Leisa, Tami, Tanya; Aunts, Uncles and many close cousins.
