Linda Marie Lindstrom was born on February 11, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Betty (Swick) Lindstrom. She grew up in the Chicago area and was in the first graduating class of Wheeling High School. While attending nursing school she met James Arthur Chaney at Augustana Hospital, the love of her life in 1967. They were united in marriage later that year on August 12 th , 1967. In 1978 they moved to Parker, South Dakota to raise their three children, James Allen, Michael John and Constance Marie. For over 20 years she was the librarian at the Parker Public Library where she enjoyed those that had a love of reading, especially the children that came in and checked out books. Born and raised in Chicago, she remained an avid Chicago sports fan. Her love for the Chicago Cubs proudly displayed around her home with her homemade fleece blankets and all the attire she wore.
Being civic minded she was involved in many volunteer and community activities, such as being a Den Mother while in Chicago, volunteering at the boys club, fund raising for a new wrestling mat and starting concessions for the Parker kids wrestling and her selfless love and devotion to her family and always putting others first. She enjoyed crafting, reading, was an avid gardener and family fishing trips to Lake Vermillion, the James and Missouri Rivers and spending time with family either at the race track watching Mike race or creating lifetime memories at Lake Madison over the last 14 years.
Always wanting to give something back, she would either give those in her life a fleece blanket, dish rag she crocheted or baked goods. Over her lifetime she had made and distributed over a 1,000 fleece blankets. Even towards the end, if you entered her home or helped in any way she would give you something she had made in appreciation. So her legacy could be carried on, she taught her daughter and oldest granddaughter how to finish her fleece blankets in which they were able to distribute 7 of them. The last 2 months of her life her daughter was also able to learn how to crochet dish rags while being her caretaker to make sure everyone is still touched by her presence.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three children: son, Jim Chaney of Wagner, SD; son, Mike (Tiffany) Chaney of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Connie Chaney (Jason Anderson) of Clear Lake, SD; 19 grandchildren; Nick (Donna) Chaney, Anthony (Caylin) Chaney, Brittanee (Brandon) Collins, Catherine Chaney, Morgan (Brett) Hansen, Emily Chaney, Madisen Krug, Miranda Chaney, Brayden Krug, Andrew Chaney, Isabelle Regnier, Wrigley Chaney, Cruz Cournoyer, Ryder Chaney, Ryker Chaney, Kynzley Chaney, Myracle Chaney, Sloan Chaney; 7 great-grandchildren; Anna Collins, Clara Collins, Sophia Engesser, Emma Collins, Brantley Chaney, Brookson Collins, Pierce Chaney, sister, Roberta Kusek, Matteson, Illinois; and nieces and nephews, Stephanie, BJ, Tina and Tim; and a very special friend, like a son Matt Ayres.
