During that time, she met the love of her life, Virgil Viet. After she finished nursing school in 1946, she worked in Worthington, MN for a short time. She came back to Parker, SD and married Virgil on June 15, 1947. To this union, three children were born: Ronald, Carol, and Daniel. Lorraine served as the Turner County Health Nurse for many years before she retired in 1989.
Lorraine loved cooking and baking for her family, knitting, crocheting, quilting, gardening, her flowers, and spending time with family and friends. She made lunch for the guys almost every day.
