Lyle E. Christensen, 81 of Lennox died on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.
He was Born 81 years ago on the family farm southeast of Turkey Ridge. He was the only child of Delmar and Ida (Arends) Christensen, but had a host of relatives and over 40 first cousins. During his first years he moved a few times around the Hurley and Parker area due to his father’s line of work. They finally settled near Beresford where he attended all eight grades of country school at Pleasant Hill #55 and graduated from Centerville High School.
He married his high school sweetheart, Dona Hegge, and they were blessed with two sons, Jeff and Jay. With his passing ended 62 years of marriage.
He worked for 55 years in the auto parts division of Ray Quinn Co, Duke Tufty Co, and Graham Automotive.
He was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Lennox, also Prairie Village in Madison where he served on the board of directors for many years, Pioneer Power of Menno and served on the board, Granite Threshing Show and one of the original organizers of the Southeastern South Dakota Threshing Association in Lennox. His hobbies were fixing up antique tractors, old gas engines, magnetos, carburetors and collecting old tools. He enjoyed partaking in many swap meets, buying and selling.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Dona of 62 years, 2 sons, Jeff Christensen of Lennox and Jay Christensen of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lanney and Bonnie Nelson.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Our Saviors West Cemetery, rural Menno, SD. 09/16/1938
