Marjorie Wilson, 89 of Marion, formally of Lander, WY, passed away on April 28, 2019 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion. Funeral Services will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Tieszen Memorial Chapel in Marion. Services will also be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Hudson Funeral Home in Lander, WY.
Marjorie Anne (Schurr) Wilson was born on November 16, 1929 to George and Rose (Timm) Schurr at Cozad, Nebraska. Marjorie attended country school in rural Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School in 1947 as valedictorian of her class. She continued her education at Nebraska Wesleyan University for one year and then finished her bachelor’s degree in English at Kearney State Teachers College, Kearney Nebraska. When she graduated in 1951, she was also credentialed in teaching secondary education. She taught one year before moving to Casper, Wyoming where she began her employment working for Standard Oil Company. It is in Casper where she met her husband, William P. Wilson. They were married July 12, 1958 in Casper where their three children were born; Jenny Lynn, Ann Elizabeth, and James Platt.
The family moved to Lander Wyoming in 1965 where they raised their family. As a homemaker, Marge enjoyed planning many culinary experiences for her family. Marge was a leader of the Lazy Dazies 4-H club. She was an avid reader, continually reading thousands of books throughout life. She also enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, playing bridge and crossword puzzles.
In 1981 Bill and Marge moved to Jackson, Wyoming and lived there until retirement in 1994. They then returned to their home in Lander, Wyoming. Bill passed away in 2008 and she remained in her own home until February of 2017, when she moved to Marion, South Dakota. She resided in the Marion Assisted Living Center for one year and then was a resident of the Tieszen Memorial Home until the time of her passing.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jenny, Huntington Beach, CA; Ann and husband Jeff Rose, Lingle Wyoming; and James and wife Laura Wilson, Marion, SD and four grandchildren including Dylan (Bridget) Rose, Grover, CO; Heather Rose, Laramie, WY; Erin Wilson, Kansas City, MO; and Alex Wilson, Sioux Falls, SD; her sister Virginia Brawner, Riverside, CA and brother George and wife Sandra Schurr, Newark, DE.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
