Rose was born June 21st, 1936, and she became the daughter of Alfred and Florence Haan through adoption on July 28th, 1936. She felt blessed to have been in a family with seven brothers of which she was the youngest.
Rose grew up on farms around Chancellor and was a life-long resident in the area. Rose was a faithful member of Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church for 68 years. She taught Sunday School to 4-year-olds for over 35 years and helped with Kids for Christ. She contributed to various areas of music, which included selecting music for the worship service and singing in the adult choir and a ladies’ sextet. She organized the annual Gospel Music Festival at Ebenezer for 12 years. Along with Arlis Poppens and Dorothea Kock, she was instrumental in organizing JOY at Ebenezer, a group for women that lived alone. That group met for many years. Rose enjoyed gospel music, reading, and time spent with family and friends.
