Ruth Jibben, 86 of Parker, passed away on April 12, 2025 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Tieszen Memorial Home Chapel in Marion. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.
Ruth Annette Jibben, the daughter of George and Lucille (Rang) Jesse, was born May 30, 1938, in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended grade school in Turner County and high school in Parker, SD.
Ruth was a musician with the “Moonshiners Dance Band”, which had been together since 1954. She proudly played with the Moonshiners with her husband, Delmar, and her son, LaMont.
Ruth was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and an official at the Turner County voting precinct. Ruth and Delmar were members of First English Lutheran Church in Parker, and they belonged to the Golden Ages Club of Sioux Falls. A joy of Ruth’s life was her love for animals. She was an avid pet lover and enjoyed spending time with them and giving them treats.
Ruth was united in marriage to Delmar Jibben on August 29, 1955, at the Turner County First Presbyterian Parsonage of rural Davis, SD. They made their home on the family farm south of Chancellor and later moved to a farm north of Parker in 1960. Ruth moved from the family farm to Parker in 2004. She then moved to the Tieszen Memorial Home in 2021.
Ruth passed on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Ava’s Hospice House, Sioux Falls, SD. She had been cared for at Ava’s House since Sunday, March 30, 2025. While at Ava’s House Ruth spent time with family until she went home to be with the Lord and loved one’s who had passed on before her. She is survived by one son, LaMont (Marlene) Jibben, of Parker, SD; one daughter, VaLoy (James) Wilkens of Pukwana, SD; four grandchildren: Nikki Whiting of Sioux Falls, SD, Jordan Wilson and Crista Pick of Tea, SD, Jessica (Zach) Vogel of Rancho Cordova, California, and Darren (Kayla) Jibben of Rancho Cordova, California. Ruth is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Tate (Hannah), Davin, Terryn, Tiegan, Zander, Payzly, Brayden, Carter, and Jameson.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Delmar in 1993.
