Thomas Everett Dawson, 76, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, June 24th at the University of Minnesota Hospital following a heart attack. Visitation will be June 28th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with no services to follow. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. Thomas “Tom” E. Dawson was born on February 1st, 1942 in Hudson, South Dakota to Tom G. and Lulu (Larsen) Dawson. He grew up between Hudson, SD and Hawarden, IA, graduating from Hudson High School. Following his graduation, he joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge from the military, he worked for Quest for 30 plus years as a Lineman. On March 21st, 1981, he was united in marriage with Brenda “Penny” Joy Cundy. During their time together, Tom and Penny enjoyed going to the races, rummaging, visiting with family and making their children do “government work.” Throughout his retirement, Tom enjoyed gardening, playing flight simulator games, watching NASCAR, Drag Racing, the Yankees, the Chicago Bears and spending time with his family. Grateful for having shared his life are his four children Tracy Blom, Charles (Robin) Salen, Tammy (Tracy) Heibult, and Joy (Dave) Schwans; Grandchildren: Brad (Kendra) Holderby, Jake (Brittany) Blom, Tyler (Cassandra) Heibult, Samantha Heibult, McKenzie and Taylor Schwans, Savanna and Paydn Salen, and two dogs, Duke and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Penny, dad Tom, mother, Lulu Dawson-Gourley, step-father Charles Gourley, brother Chuck, and sister, Sondra.
